Chapter 21 - Inner Man or Inner Woman (Inner Person)


Imagine a lecture hall much as before but with a huge white board on which different views of the brain are shown, and other schematics, and Darth point with a stick to areas shown on the white board.



21.0 "Ladies and gentlemen," Darth began his presentation, "while the Id, Ego, and Superego, and the main engineering components of the higher brain, these are mainly to manage and control the body and its outlook on life and reality in particular. In fact, they serve a "master" or "mistress", and that is the "inner man" or "inner woman". We can say the "inner person" but in a strict sense this is not quite the same. The "inner man" and "inner woman" do not really have a personality in that sense, or perhaps their attributes we can still refer to personality but personality covers many more attributes than the "inner man" or "inner woman" we want to understand.

21.1 During sleep much of the brain is unlocked. Energy from the Id, Superego, and ID, can come together to complain, protest, or try and explain a dilema. The "you" in the dream is the "inner man" or "woman".

21.2 The Superego is a huge monstrous electro-magnetic like structures. A kind of mind but mainly to do with "ideals". Its origins in the brain's neural networks are from intense pockets of energy generated, or trapped in, specific neural networks. The Ego can try and find a place for such a "hand" that is placed and presses on a bundle of energy. Imagine the Superego like a man in a doggie position, imagine he has hundreds of arms. Each such arm has a hand, and it is that hand that is the root into the neural networks that contain specific energy formations. Think about a simple memory like your friend. For the brain to put your friend in perspective, it is not just their basic physical appearance that is relevant, it is how they are, where they live, and so on. Such is a complex memory mapped across the brain's neural cells. If you friend has a tendency to spend too much money, then an area in your brain that is "annoyed" when you spend too much money, also forms part of the link in the chain of neural network that are the memory imprint.

21.3 The ID is a similar structure but opposite in a way. If the Ego manages to correctly ground the arm of the Superego, then the Superego has no reason to be awakened. I used the example that my Ego, to reduce in me the fear of flying, found an anchor for the Superego in this regard in the memory area in which information about QANTAS was held and the fact QANTAS had never had a fatality. A simple and clever solution. My Superego had not knowledge that airplanes can crash, hence anytime I had to fly and the ID tried to generate fear, the Superego pressed its hand harder and harder because the Ego had explained all this and the ID was wrong. Eventually, after watching too many airplane disaster documentaries, the ID build up enough energy to sneak through the hand of the Superego and the result was a nightmare and an awakening with this intense apprehension of flying, so strong the inner man in men formed the thought "I will never fly again." By morning the Ego had managed to find another way to anchor the Superego so the apprehension was gone.

21.4 The inner man and woman can never be mentally ill. No such thing. These are forces of life, mostly made from feelings, and in these the second true consciousness is born. The brain, the Ego, the Supergo, the Id, these can be mentally deficient but the inner man or woman can never be. One reason it is so hard to get to the bottom of trauma during childhood, a serious trauma such as rape or incest, is because the ID, the Superego, and the Ego are all protecting the inner man or woman. It is the inner man or woman that needs to deal with this, then the Id and Superego and Ego can adjust forces within - but if the inner man or woman refuses to, then the Ego and Id and Superego all protect the inner man or woman, causing massive confusion in the brain.

21.5 If you can get to the inner man or woman who is a magistrate or judge, you can usually win your case. Say the the inner man is a judge who is very well off financially, who believes he has a prestigous position, etc. Say two people are before him, one claiming all sorts of things against the other. The lawyer for the person claiming all this, if he has no evidence, begins to suggest things like "this man is unemployed" or "this man is a psychic." So many things you can use to terrify the inner man or woman to hide inside and let the brain make the decision - the Ego and Superego really, with the Id perhaps throwing in a gratification while it has the chance. So, while the end result could be a decision which is "insane-in-law" by our medical definition, it does not mean the inner man or woman is irrational or insane or mentally dysfunctions. The brain might be, sure, but not the inner man or woman.

21.6 I had watched a television documentary about three Islamic hijackers who hijacked an airplane. The plane was surrounded by Algerian police who refused to let it fly to Paris. At one point the police worked out who one of the hijackers mother was and put her on the telephone to the hijacker. He screamed into the telephone "mum, I love you but I love God more." That struck me as so puzzling I had spend days wondering about this. This was a rational man but the "inner man" had twisted and modified the structures of the brain in such a way that the Id could get its gratification with this one act of sabotage and terrorism. It is not that the inner man is "not normal" - it is just the way tradition and upbringing had forged the man inside. A the inner man was forging, he might have chosen some easily solutions that loosened the strength of force the Supergo's hands were using on areas of the brain, instead the Id began to control some of these areas at will. Another puzzling aspect was that these terrorists had been persuade to believe that anyone they kill aboard this airplane, was a martyr just like them and will go to paradise. In fact, it seems to me, that is the clue or key to the technique used to get what could be normal sane people to commit acts of terror. In other words, if we could work out how the structure of the Ego and Superego and Id has to be modified, using neuroscientific principles, in order for the Ego to loose complete control in this way, we might even be in a position to assess very on in life who is likely to be recruited as a terrorist. It obviously arises from the belief layer and it is essential for the principle to work that the belief layer accept that "killing" any victim is "justified", i.e. hard to explain, a martyr is not just the person who is the terrorist, but anyone they kill during the process. (you can try to think through this as homework). The most effective way the belief system can be modified is by either acceptance of being forced into this, some kind of laws. If the belief system accepts it, it modified the Ego; if the belief system fails to accept then the Ego can be pushed into forcing the belief system to accept by for example some acts of brutality on the person. If the belief system accepts, this means that the inner man accepts, and the inner man in some people can take over control of the Id in a controlled manner.
