A Light in the Darkness

Chapter 2, Amanda

The intention of this novel is to convey the nature and techniques of advanced telepathy.

Trust is the key.

Attributed to the Holy Spirit.

Sitting in her office in an American police bureau, Sharon was in deep contemplation. With one exception, she had great respect for the police men and women in her building, but she felt the police were often misunderstood. Overall, it was not the police that caused major problems in society, at least not the police in civilized countries, but the legal system and in some cases its blatant corruption - it is what it was, any favor system between judges and lawyers was always corruption in her book and she had seen more than her share.

A part of her wanted to develop an understanding of a Faith Marriage along Methodist lines, in a new Faith Path. But, Sharon felt, Lisa-1 had already done this for all Christian denominations. The deep faith Sharon felt and sensed during a few brief interactions with Darth and Lisa-1, was true and strong Christian faith. Simply because both Darth and Lisa-1 were born Catholics, that is the true reason they referred to that faith as "catholic faith". An example of a proper Faith Marriage already existed, it was between Lisa-1 and Darth, and anyone from any Life in the Spirit could arrange to spend time with them and their family, namely Lisa and Sara, but other of the telepathic children were also accepted by Lisa-1 as her "catholic children". Again, Sharon felt, the term "catholic" referred to those who belonged in their heart and mind and body, to Jesus.

Sharon toyed with a pencil in her hands, rose, walked to the window, looked out. A dreary day with heavy clouds looming. She crossed her arms, thinking. While she had found a Methodist Life in the Spirit at a young age, Sharon had spent a considerable time among the Jewish Noble Ways. Their telepathy highly secret but easy to learn. She felt she understood Helen better than other women could. Such Jews party to their telepathy way of life were strong on honor, on commitment, and a legitimate wife now and then did give permission for her husband in the spirit to be intimate with another woman. Sharon had no doubt she could obtain such permission - but did she look forward to this? Sharon felt indifferent - something that had to be done, a "wedding night", for the sake of others, so others accepted she was, at a certain level, as legitimate with to Darth as Helen or Lisa-1 or Lana. She would think of something, adequate "foreplay" and sensual imagery to  make the experience enjoyable to herself and to the man, but she could wait indefinitely for the "wedding night."

Sharon sat down, looked over some notes on her desk - in case someone was spying on her she needed to appear busy and occupied. She trusted those she had stumbled upon in Life in the Spirit, namely Helen and Lana and Lisa-1, and of late Amy, to appreciate and believe that after the wedding night the telepathy link will be such that she would touch the divine through the spirit in that one man. That could alter her. This was perhaps the most important reason she did not mind how long the wedding night took, until then she was in a position to think much better in a common sense way.

Sharon had seen some ordinary life evidence of the particular case in Australia that brought psychic retaliation. Her police nose only read the summary to know the obvious - what the psychics claimed was true, a $10,000 bribe was made to an Australian Magistrate to sign a court order. There were in fact two, possibly three, Magistrates who competed for this luxury prize. The court clerk did not want the first Magistrate to have anything to do with the hearing, that is how blatant the facts were and how loudly of corruption did they speak - but the second Magistrate was was more than happy to go along in order to receive the amount negotiated with a lawyer, the $10,000. So obvious was he, that he was asked to stand down from a scheduled hearing.  A
nd then the usual cover-up when events began to run out of control as massive complaints against the two Magistrates involved. Sharon recalled a Supreme Court judge in Australia in recent years. The man was a drunk, so the newspapers suggested, and was caught by police driving and charged with drink driving. Suddenly the blood samples disappeared before the court case, this from a police lock up, and only massive publicity managed to find these. In that case, Sharon suspected, it was senior police who decided to go the newspapers and television to make the public aware of the scale of corruption in the courts of Australia.

Time passed. Sharon focused on paperwork, an open file, but her thoughts completely alienated from the file. What was her duty? And to whom? To God, to police, to the Methodists? She had always been deeply spiritual and had never consciously doubted the existence of God or a life beyond death. She believed that in this generation God again was reborn among humanity, and was explaining to humanity His point of view, asking his followers to carefully consider the evidence presented and act accordingly.

Sharon felt a child in her womb. She was not pregnant in ordinary life - she was certain she was not. Suddenly a concept, an idea, came - why not develop a Life in the Spirit group purely for police officers and their spouses and perhaps children if any came online to such a group? Sharon was aware that the Buddhists had a Life in the Spirit and Darth and Helen accepted them completely even though Buddhism was not a Judeo-Christian philosophy. Perhaps the same could be done for police officers?"

That night she lay awake, tossing and turning, and before dawn a strong telepathic interaction formed with Darth as a man. In the house she too understood was the main house used by Darth and Helen in their private or special settings, she imagined Darth as a man sitting on the sofa. She imagined herself sitting on the sofa too, her long legs to one side - except she imagined herself as she was no, in a rather brief and perhaps sexy nightgown.

"If I am going to be a wife also", she mused at her own mental image in that light nightgown, and toyed with Darth's hair in this imaginary vision, "as I will, as Helen will allow me to be, as I know you will accept me too, but do I have to be a Methodist? Or can I be a police woman? I had this thought that, perhaps, those who are dedicated police officers also need...the peace...the joy...the serenity...and the reconciliation of body and soul...that Christians need, Jews need, many fine people need from time to time."

Darth stood up and paced about in the vision. Truth was that Sharon's image, in that rather brief nightgown and those long sexy legs tossed casually to one side, was seriously distracting his ability to think well. As he paced, he explained, "if you are going to be my wife of the faith too...given the three angels, Helen and Lisa-1 and Lana, agree...I will have to talk plainly to you. Regardless of what you understand or are prepared to believe, on the evidence of our few deep space psychics, the one alien who now and then communicates with these psychics, explained that planet Earth is simply too primitive to have legal and police systems in place. There simply is no need, such just frustrate people resulting in crime. I accept that point of view."

"That's sweet, calling Helen, Lisa-1, and Lana, as angels", Sharon stood up in the vision, stretched in a way that caused her nightgown to pull high up, and asked, "where is the toilet in this house? In ordinary life I gave to go...let me reproduce this situation by imagining I have to go."

Darth pointed to the back of the large lounge room. A short corridor led to the laundry and behind it a third bathroom.

He came to the sofa, imagined sitting and waiting for Sharon to return. She did shortly, as she came to him she yawned (imitating a yawn in ordinary life) and sat down by him, slightly away from him, her arms crossed. "So, how about it?", she shrugged, "a Life in the Spirit group just for police? Based on Methodist Life in the Spirit techniques?"

"Which are?", Darth asked, he himself barely aware at this time that the Methodists had a Life in the Spirit.

"Well", she leant against him, a rather sexy pose, her arm high and touching his hair, "I could wander in the spirit with you but it would take a year to show you how a Methodist Life in the Spirit works. Why bother?"

Darth stood up, thinking, wondering, "hmm...not bad...instead of calling a police group Life in the Spirit, it would simply be known as a telepathy group and no one needs to know the spirit among them."

"Well, sort of", Sharon replied as she came to him, stood in front, looked at his arm, caressed it as she looked into his eyes, "and I am...warming to you...truth is I do not want to mate properly...just want to have access to you and your combined Life in the Spirit and some of your psychic spies."

"You don't have to...", Darth flowed but she put her finger to her lips and shook her head, musing, "ah...got your interest...you have never come across an adult woman of faith who could resist you, who was not tempted by you - have you?"

"You may be the first", Darth replied truthfully.

"I knew it", she took a step back and spun about, happy with this, "my attraction to you is my will to submit to your will, that I already said to you...and also my apparent resistance to your psychic charms."

Sharon sat down again, arms crossed low, touching her legs even. Sensing Darth was very much distracted by her image, she in her brief nightgown, she forced to recall herself in a police uniform - but at the time she did not wear a gun - and caused that memory to form the vision of herself in this setting.

"This might turn you off, this police outfit", she said, musing, as she looked about this room, as she put her hands together and around her right knee.

Darth sat down next to her. Her head turned away from him and focusing on the large glass-door through which a tree could be seen.

"How many steps outside?", she turned quickly, "just had a thought...how many steps leading from the back door to the ground?"

"About twelve", Darth replied. He had never counted them.

Sharon imagined taking his hand and walking outside and descending the twelve steps. As they touched the ground in their imagination, Sharon halted, curious and puzzled. In the vision she used her own police uniform which was distinct, but now she imagined herself in dark blue trousers and a lighter blue shirt. In seconds Amanda, the fifteen year telepathic daughter of Darth and Helen who in ordinary life was a daughter of a police officer, imagined as if stepping out of the woman image. She took some steps back and explained to Sharon, "that is a uniform of an Australian police woman...I suspect a police woman I have met, when with my father who is a police officer, somehow locks onto my thoughts."

"She may not be aware of this", Sharon managed to imagine herself in her own uniform and she walked to Amanda, put her hands in her lap, and slightly leant as she flowed this.

"Maybe", Amanda shrugged and pointed to what looked like a lake not far from the house, "a swimming hole! Never seen this side of the house before...shall we go for a swim...the three of us...oops, but I forgot my swimmners...never mind...we don't need any."

Sharon straightened herself, puzzled by what Amanda had just said. As they waited, both Sharon and Darth caught a faint image of a girl, naked, jumping in with a girlfriend into a river.

Darth flowed to Sharon privately, "I think in ordinary life my telepathic daughter is a touch on the wild side."

Sharon, suspecting Amanda did not really mean this, looked at the body of water and nodded, "all right, why not." She imagined taking her top off but Amanda was quickly by her, flowing, "what are you doing? I don't want my telepathic to see me naked...I was only musing."

"I thought so", Sharon thought to herself and caressed Amanda's hair, "all right, we will not...listen...I have this concept in mind...a telepathy group just for police officers."

"Why?", Amanda replied quickly, "to make it easier for the Natural Telepaths to get rid of the whole lot in one go?"

"Certainly not", Sharon replied, "they will have the protection of a Methodist Life in the Spirit."

"Protection?", Amanda said, "I do not believe Catholic or Jewish or whatever hocus pocus called Life in the Spirit could withstand a telepathic assault by the psychics."

"That's not for me to say, and I will not pretend that I know the truth in this regard", Sharon said, "but from what I have seen..the Holy Spirit is strong in the leaders of the psychics, such as your father (i.e. Darth) and they do not violate holy agreements or orders."

Darth imagined sitting on the lowest step listening to the two. Amanda came over, sat by him, put her hand around his, buried her head in his arm flowing, "sorry...rude of me before...about that swimming naked bit...I feel Sharon might have a good idea...if she can provide protection to the police...the telepathic plane is not ordinary life, they no longer look after one another  in the same way."

The imagery changed to the Wesley Church setting. At the back Padre, the Methodist Minister imagined being present, and with him Helen, and then Darth, Amanda, Sharon and even Amy. Each wore ordinary clothes, not particular elegant clothes at that. In the Padre's arms a child in white. Seeing the baby, Darth took steps back very quickly as if the Padre has a contagious disease.  Helen shook her head, took the baby from the Padre, and explained, "a man can give birth in the spirit on his own...rare...but can happen...my husband", she indicated with her head to Darth as she swayed with the child, "did it once..but he hated it! Deep deep emotional turmoil the like a man usually never experiences. He complained to me for weeks about this, telling me that I am the woman, I am the wife, why did he have to do it."

The Padre took Sharon aside, clarifying, "I am learning quickly to walk in the spirit. I suppose like most preachers or reverends or even many priests, I am only a believer deep down, but sometimes I fool myself that I have the faith. But now that I have seen those who have faith, absolute faith I feel", he motioned with his head to Darth and Helen, "they put me to shame...and I always felt I am a man of God."

Sharon explained to the Padre her concept. The Padre listened thoughtfully, then put her hand on Sharon's upper arm, "love...yes, with all my heart, will support you...but as to offering protection? I can not imagine, from what I have come to know, how anyone can guarantee protection from the psychic community? The telepathic plane is, ultimately, their domain."

Sharon turned, studied Helen who nodded, then took Darth aside and made him clap hands with her in alternating patterns, flowing, "yes, my mission, my call, from the depths of the spirit, is clear now...I have a mission...Helen feels the feelings I flowed to her explaining my idea, is the right and proper reason for me to also become your wife in the spirit..but..I and you will probably only ever have one shot at sexual telepathy, this to consummate our marriage as is traditional, because your wife Helen I suspect is rather possessive of "her Holy Spirit", so when we do, when I open up, respond please, naturally, as you would like to respond to a woman, let it be a wedding night that we both will enjoy remembering in difficult times, and I trust that special memory will again bring us together."

Amanda was standing still, hands clasped behind, delicately swaying, looking most innocent, as if on best behavior. She now turned to Helen and pointed to Sharon, "does that mean I have to call her mother too?"

"As you please and will", Helen replied.

Seeing Helen was swaying and looking and smiling at the baby in her arms, Amanda glanced at Sharon and gave a quick poke of the tongue. Sharon turned aside, blushed, and flowed to Darth privately, "she can call me mother but she ain't my daughter...I could not put up with her."

Amanda's thoughts became stronger, and all adults silenced their thoughts. That was a golden rule among them, anytime a child or young person was possibly in "telepathic distress", the focus was to help such a child.

Within moments Amanda, for the first time, imagined Darth's physical house and she in the kitchen. Helen, in rather dreary clothes, also in the setting and Darth sitting at a table. Amanda imagined being busy in the kitchen, she flowing rapidly mainly to Helen, "why did this happen to me? I thought when about ten...maybe eleven...whatever..I had a religious experience then suddenly I saw images in my mind and before I know it, I was party to Jewish Life in the Spirit. But I am a Catholic...so why did I get stuck with the Jews?"

Helen glanced at Darth, then explained to Amanda, "it can happen, a child is drawn to a particular signal across the telepathic plane...did the Jews treat you badly?"

Helen used her will and imagined Amanda on the sofa and she sitting with Amanda, her arm around the girl who sat still with hands under her legs. "No, not that I remember, in fact the men and women I got to know were nice", Amanda replied after some hesitation, "but somehow I knew it had something to do with Jews, these telepathy experiences, and I never felt that comfortable."

"Perhaps a good reason why Sharon and the Padre should be allowed to form a new group", Helen said to Darth then explained to Amanda gently, "traditionally, any police officer whose thoughts spiraled into the telepathic plane, and who could not be...be...confused enough for his or her brain to block telepathy...was introduced to a Jewish Noble House, usually called the Army but they are not real soldiers in ordinary life."

"Why?", Amanda turned to Helen.

"Something unique about the thought patterns of police officers", Helen replied, "I don't know exactly what...how are you feeling now?"

"Better", Amanda replied and pointed to Darth, "and I love him as a telepathic father...he is actually very nice."

"I know", Helen gave Amanda a kiss on the head, "and the reason I married him in the faith...he has a strong and bold...way of presenting his point of view...not a way too many appreciate but that is just his way."

Amanda imagined walking to Darth and sitting herself on Darth's lap. "Mum, can I sit like this? Last time I did...Sharon I think it was...was telling me I am too old...this is just mental imagery, what is the problem?"

"No", Helen shook her head and lifted and grabbed Amanda's hand and dragged her back to the sofa, "you are a young woman...your telepathic father is not your father in ordinary life...and you will confuse yourself, and a man whatever his age, if you start projecting images like that to a man."

"All right, I understand", Amanda replied as she imagined an ice-cream in her hand and she licking it. The ice-cream conveyed that she was "liking" the telepathic experience.

Darth, thinking this was not altogether sensible, locked Amanda's will and she imagined being with him in the back of their telepathic house by a lake. Darth explained, "only you can do this, up to you, because only you can form what may seem sexual imagery...but, this is a touch embarrassing for me but, why not me and you for a brief moment imagine we want to have a swim naked."

Amanda paused, her heart felt uplifted by what he just said, she turned, as if making sure no one was looking, then put a finger up, "all right, dad, just this once, and briefly, let us imagine we take our clothes off at the same time and dive in."

"No, no diving into rivers, water could be deceptive and shallow and you could break your neck, we just run in", Darth said.

Amanda nodded, looked about again, then said, "all right, let's do it", and imagined taking a jumper off. They both did this quickly, and Amanda made sure the visual was not that strong, and rushed in, laughed, splashed water at one another, then agreed to walk out together but back to back.

Darth let go of the will, and the setting of his house returned. Helen was sitting with Sharon on the sofa, explaining many things. Darth was back on the chair, Amanda was about to walk to him and sit on his legs then stopped, and decided to walk to the sofa and sat neatly next to Sharon while flowing privately to Darth, "but, father, me not sitting on your legs is so petty after what me and you just imagined we did, that naked swim."

Darth flowed back privately, "Helen is rather...strict...about imagery she considers could be mistaken for sexual and which any of her telepathic daughters tries to use. The small ones, Chi or Sharla or Harla, they can do what they like, but after a certain age...or event...Helen discourages a girl from using some imagery."

"I understand", Amanda flowed to Darth as she turned to Helen busy in conversation with Sharon

Amanda listened to Helen and Sharon but her mind on other matters. She flowed privately to Darth, "but you know, father, I would never agree to do this with my father in ordinary life."

"And I can not imagine suggesting something like that to my own daughter in ordinary life, shudder what she might think or accuse me of", Darth flowed back privately, "telepathy offers some scope for unusual bonding...but its a delicate balance...and do explain to Helen what we did. Anytime you have, however remote it may seem, sexual type imagery, always confide in Helen."

Amanda leant against Helen, put both her hands around Helen's arm, saying, "I feel better now mum."

Helen turned to her. Amanda put her hand to Helen's ear and explained. Helen smiled, "well, harmless as far as I can see, but act your age, you wouldn't do it with much older men in ordinary life, so avoid doing it in telepathy settings."

Amanda flowed privately to her telepathic father, "I am not so sure I mind...I felt a bonding...a touch embarrassing but a bonding...and I needed to bond more with you and mum."
