A Clean Table

Chapter 1, Abigail

The intention of this novel is to convey the nature and techniques of advanced telepathy.

Faith on its own without love is not a recipe for salvation.

Attributed to the Holy Spirit.

While they were working on developing the Science Group settings, suddenly Darth imagined himself standing in a square around which were many colorful houses. A man with a top hat was soon near him, took his hat off, and used a flow that reminded Darth of the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland, "our table comes through now."

Nicole, the nine year old psychic child, in a light long dress with flowers, already much smarter than her young age, imagined being present and gave Darth a note as well as a curtsy, "mum, Lana...and I agree with Lisa in that I hate more than one telepathic mum...mum says I am to keep an eye on you."

"Hi, I'm Nicole", she turned and gave her hand to the old, at this time, odd looking Priest image. Lana, faintly aware of this setting, also flowed to Nicole to give a curtsy.

"Nice to meet you...and how shall we welcome the Son of God among my little flock? Not very big Life in the Spirit but we are clever", the old man asked as he shook Nicole's hand who in turn also gave a curtsy.

Nicole turned to Darth, wondering if the old man meant her telepathic father. She flowed to him the question. Darth scratched his head, "hmm...what do I know about Martin Luther?...uhm...he overturned the table of the money changers I guess...let us hope your table is fitting for your founder to sit at."

"Oh yes", the Priest scratched his head. A female image formed, cartoon like, long wide skirt, and handed a note to Nicole. She read it, "Martin Luther King was...". Nicole paused, her psychic sense telling her she was being tricked. She turned to Darth, "dad...that was an American...who did you say...oh yes, Martin Luther...sorry, have no idea who he was."

"My wife is making spies our of my telepathic children", Darth mused to the woman image as he pointed to Nicole.

"Mum does not trust dad with a woman with a pretty flow", Nicole said matter of fact.

They waited. The other two images faded. Nicole asked Darth, "what is a table?"

"In Life in the Spirit", Darth explained, "it refers to a group of people who are party to Life i the Spirit and they tend to gather around a table in their imagination, in a setting. In fact, one objection of Jews in Ancients Jerusalem to early Christians was that they tended to gather at the one table."

"Clear as mud, dad, but thanks", Nicole replied and feeling a touch nervous, took his hand. He imagined her small and spun her above her head. Her size returned, she "prettied" her dress with her hands making it sit neat and tidy.

The old man formed again. "I know where I met you and two or more of your lovely telepathic come Catholic daughters", the old man said, "I ran this Alice in Wonderland scenario in my head and your daughters took to it."

"I don't know which ones", Darth replied, "with over twenty telepathic children, I loose track of which one did what....I think that may have been Lisa and Amy...maybe even this one", he turned to Nicole, "what's your name again."

"Dad!", Nicole gave him a sharp rebuke, thinking this was not the time for his style of humor.

The imagery became stronger, closer to ordinary life. A woman walking with Darth in this image asked, "and the concept of Faith Marriages...to all of God's chosen ones?"

"Yes", Darth replied.

"I see", she replied then mused, "oh dear...the Catholic church of Martin's time would be turning in its grave...think of all the indulgences it could sell to the truly faithful."

"Ah", Darth replied, "but Luther did not believe in Sacraments...and a Faith Marriage is a Sacrament...we may need to find a solution."

Nicole now imagined being with them, in her hand an ice-cream and she holding onto Darth's hand.

"I don't speak English", the woman smiled, "and it is early in the morning in Germany...I am a touch slow...I am amazed how Life in the Spirit is language independent...I personally always felt this was the mystery of what was meant when the Apostles spoke in tongues and all could understand them."

"Never thought of that", Darth nodded.

The woman, a pretty image (still not quite life-like but close) put her hand around Darth's upper arm. Nicole saw this, came quickly around, took her hand away, "no...no...sorry...Lana, that's one of my mums, told me to watch for subtle tricks."

"All right, dear", the woman took her hand away, musing at the rather "fun" character that Nicole seemed to be.

"I sense a strong gentle will", the woman said as she paused, allowing Darth to focus more on what she was recalling to cause this imagery. Darth, and Nicole, imaged a wide river on their right.

"Yes", Darth replied, "the Jewish Life in the Spirit, enough of them anyway, have finally consented to bind Helen's will with Sandra who...is like...going to be...the wife at the will level to a man of faith...I don't know your jargon."

"I understand, not that we do that", the woman replied, "but we do have...like sport...in our time together...and sometimes...this is cheeky...sexual imagery takes over and its like making love...except no one knows why this happens...but no one actually minds either...but its not that often or very complicated...more like romance in the spirit than sexual telepathy. Our group is about twenty, most women, a few men. Maybe there are other Lutheran groups, I don't  know, never searched, or understood how to search."

Nicole had stopped and had taken out a notepad and flipped through the pages, chatting to herself, "should I be listening? What are my instructions from Helen mum when "sex" is mentioned...here it is, I am to block my ears and lower my head."

Nicole took Darth's hand and led him to a seat. They sat down. Behind them the wide river with boats. Nicole asked softly, "mum, Lana mum, asked me to ask this of you soon after you meet a woman in the spirit...if you were not married, and Lana kept stressing this "married" bit, would you be interested in getting to know her", she pointed at the woman who was smiling with head lowered as she stood some distance.

"Aha", Darth replied. Nicole promptly flipped to a page of her notepad and imagined a pencil and wrote, "that's not a good sign I think, I need to be watchful."

The woman, who still had not suggested a name for herself, came and sat down with them, saying gently to Nicole, "sweetheart...your father is married in the spirit...a man would have to have rocks in his head to commit adultery in the spirit...his wife would thrash him beyond pain...it is how it is between adults...and the female will is strong in life in the spirit...I don't think you need to be this watchful."

"Well", Nicole looked puzzled, "mum, Lisa mum in this case, told me that...that..its not so much that dad gets confused as to who his wife is...its just that a pretty female flow can...can...like wants him after a while...not sure what that meant."

"I understand", the woman blushed and turned aside. Then she said to Nicole, "yes, you keep a watchful eye on your telepathic Catholic father in the spirit."

"I will", Nicole nodded most enthusiastically and scribbled a message in her notepad.

"Have you made friends with Sharla?", Darth asked. Sharla was a seven year old Jewish child who always made notes in her notepad.

"Yes, I love her", Nicole explained, "because, well, sure, I know I am a psychic, sure, dad, but like you I lack this ability for...what was it called?...white paper ESP...and Sharla showed me this clever technique which helps me to remember and pass notes. How old is she exactly?"

"About seven I think, hard to tell with young ones", Darth replied, "she could be younger even."

"Are you sure you have a mother of the faith?", the woman asked Nicole, "seems to me if you think you have three mothers, maybe you never found the one faithful mother."

"Uhm.....what is your name among us please?", Nicole was stumped by the question.

The woman turned and glanced at Darth, then turned to Nicole, "Abigail...nice saintly name."

"Abigail", Nicole began to make a note of this in her notepad.

"A lovely child, wish she was mine", Abigail said softly to Darth.

Darth leant and flowed to Nicole, "Abigail would love you as her daughter of the faith...and I guess me and your mum have lots of children to spare."

Nicole leant, laughed, "sure, father, and who was the last child of yours you gave away."

"There was one, Judas I think", Darth mused.

Nicole walked to his side, sat by him, "father, you have a nice sense of humor...but I did not understand that...are you making sport of me?"

"No, sorry, just feeling tired, how can I make up", Darth said as he put his arm around her waist.

Nicole gave him a kiss on the cheek, "I forgive you...mum told me to say this if you ever...get...uhm..something or rather, I don't remember exactly what she said."

"Why don't you spend some time with your daughter?", Abigail sensed Nicole wanted this, "and let me maintain a will. I am a natural mother, have a will of my own, three children also, young, I am...I don't like saying my age...say under 35."

Nicole's ears pricked up, she imagined her notepad and flipping through it. She did not find anything "suspicious" and closed it.

While Abigail maintained a will, Darth and Nicole imagined going down the steps to the river. She asked if she could wear something else and promptly changed her clothes to a pair of jeans and a top. They climbed into a boat, after Nicole insisted Darth has to pay the man for hiring the boat. Nicole wanted to row. Darth and Abigail sat at the back as Nicole rowed and her psychic sense strong she could visualize the scenery much better than Darth at this point in time.

"What do you need most?", Abigail asked.

"Women of faith who can keep us true to ourselves", Darth explained, "us more senior men and women, once we bind in a Faith Marriage type, keep...getting side tracked."

"I understand..and...my table wants to know you, if we may, as a Son of God", Abigail said softly.

"All right", Darth replied and leant and brushed Nicole's long brown hair with his hand. She giggled.

"Also", Darth said to Abigail, "if you are willing to consider this...find a way any woman of faith can bind to me as wife of the faith without getting any of my three wives into a state and half."

"I will", she replied softly and leant against him.

Nicole had not noticed this, she was busy looking at an amusement park on the side of the river, and when she turned again she was not sure anymore if she ought to interfere and separate her father from this new woman.
